Charles' memories

Hi, my memories of the west station were going down there at the week-ends to spend my pocket money. I would often go to E.L.Clarks to buy the latest toy and as I got older would purchase all my fishing tackle from his other shop on the other side of west station (Roxbourgh St).My first part time job was in Cello’s fish bar ( M Tomla)next to west station café.I also recall auld wullie who used to sell the 'Tele' outside the station itself. He would come round every day to compare the crosswords from the local paper. Remember that Poster as you entered the stairs down to the platform,Ronnie Corbett saying “litter aint much fun when yer only 4’1”.

Ann's Story
I Remember the West Station I used to live on Roxbourgh street. I was about 7 years old I used to ride my bike all the way around the block we used to take the train all the time .I remember me and my mum took the train and she has a pram with one of my brothers in it and was getting on the train and and she got on but the doors closed. and I didnt get on it so I was left there was scared to death dont know what happened after that just remember that.

Jim's Memories
I remember in the 1940s catching the train to Fort Matilda to go swimming at the battery baths or going to the port to visit my gran, sometimes trying to sneak through without a ticket having spent my fare on an icecream. I have always had fond memories of the West Station, I lived at 78 Wellington St. then, I now live in Sydney NSW Australia.
